3yo Filly: Winner
Status: Spelling
Current Status: Doublesharkattack is currently spelling, recovering from a minor set back. We were very proud of her winning as a 2 year old, it wont be long until she is back preparing to race. We are hopeful she can put together a campaign that results in a trip to the winners stall.
History: When B4S first started, one of the first things our team did was look for a first season stallion that was in our opinion undervalued when compared to other spruik sires.
When looking at our own horse’s pedigree, that of Real Peace, and the great Japanese sires in his pedigree like Epiphaneia, Leontes and Saturnalia we noticed a quiet Aussie stallion called Overshare. Overshare was hiding on the page that we had seen standing at Spendthrift Australia, an American stud making waves down under.
When we made enquiries about Overshare’s foals with Spendthrift we came across this lovely filly by Patricia’s Gem. Patricia’s Gem fit the bill as the perfect inaugural flagship horse for Bred For Success.
We knew that we had to buy her straight off the Spendthrift farm. We continued her development at Bimbadeen Park as can be seen in the video with our Cameron Evans, she is looking amazing.
Patricia’s Gem was group 1 placed in the US, breaking the breeze up record in Keenland. She cost Spendthrift over $1.75 million, a record price for a ready to run filly that still stands today. Her page is full of stakes performers from just about every racing jurisdiction you can imagine including Mark the Horse in Australia, trained by Michelle Payne.
Built powerfully and strong, we are quietly confident that she will make it on the track, but there is no doubt that she presents continual value to our owners long after racing. Her half brother Faulds was a winner on debut at 2 years old before being sold to Hong Kong for an undisclosed sum and is soon to light up the track at Sha Tin. Meanwhile our faith in Overshare seems justified after his books exploded after his first season at stud. That faith has converted on the racetrack with his very first runner for Annabel Neashem, Lady Laguna being a winner at Doomben.
