It's been a huge January for Aquis' stallion Spieth.

The Queensland-based stud kicked the month off with his first two winners in quick succession.

The first winner was for leading Tasmanian based trainer, Adam Trinder with the aptly named Jaguar Stone. The Spieth filly was out of Tale of the Cat mare, Leopard Skin. She won impressively and looks set for some of Tasmania's 2yo stakes races.

She appears to be an astute purchase by Trinder- just $35,000 from last year's Gold Coast National Magic Millions Sale.

If she was a cheapie, what do we call Spieth's next winner in the form of Wild Botanica, a $4,000 for Aquis themselves and trained by Kacy Fogden.

Wild Botanica had showed promise ahead of earning a start in the always much hyped season opening Group 3 Gimcrack Stakes. She performed admirably, finishing mid-field behind Coolangatta who of course went on to Magic Millions Success and to maintain a stranglehold of Golden Slipper betting.

The two wins put Spieth on the board on the first season sires table but most importantly set the stallion up for success in the sales ring for Magic Millions week.

Undoubtedly the highlight was lot 304 (picture) out of My Lady's Chamber, drafted by outstanding Hunter Valley based operation Lime County Thoroughbreds. It sold for $325,000, a new record price dropped for Spieth, to leading Melbourne trainer Ciaron Maher.

This pushed his sale average to $94,500 which put him ahead of spruik first season stallion Lean Mean Machine and established stallions such as Epaulette, Star Turn, Headwater and others.

A quick look at the Australian Stud Book suggests that there must have been a sense amongst breeders that this stallion was throwing nice types and going to produce results when his runners hit the ground.

In 2019 Spieth covered 89 mares for 59 live foals. In 2020 this dipped significantly to just 39 mares served for only 21 foals.

However, breeders have come flocking back to the stallion, with 128 mares covered in the most recent breeding season.

If Spieth continues his upwards trajectory that spells a potential boon for those lucky enough to enough to own one of his only 21 current foals as they will be in demand at next years sales as they will be a limited commodity.

BRED FOR SUCCESS CURRENTLY HAVE A SPIETH FOAL FOR NEXT YEARS SALES AS PART OF OUR ROCK SUCCESS BROODMARE SYNDICATE . THE COLT IS OUT OF A HALF SISTER TO DUAL HEMISPHERE STAKES PERFORMER, SEA SIREN.

WE ONLY HAVE LIMITED SHARES STILL AVAILABLE. FIND OUT MORE HERE

Spieth provides an excellent opportunity for breeders and for buyers of fillies alike as he is a rare stallion that is completely free of Danehill blood and only has one dose of Danzig blood.
